Did you catch this in the reading this mornng? 2 Chronicles 25:2, speaking about King Amaziah..."and he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a loyal heart."
How many times do we find ourselves doing the Lord's work for human motives. We DO all the right things, but we have our own agenda. IT is possible to do the right thing for the wrong reasons... just ask Amaziah. I guess I see this alot in church work. When I went to seminary, it was because I wanted to preach the gospel, train the believers, and serve my Lord. I don't ever remember saying to myself, I can't wait to get my degree so that I can sit in committee meetings, cut budgets, and haggle over the fine points of wall colors and carpet styles for the sanctuary. We just get distracted from what is important. In the midsts of the distractions we end up chasing our motives and desires instead of the Lords. It ended up costing Amaziah his life, what will it cost us?
I pray that we do what is right in the sight of the Lord, for the right reasons.
