Ministry in Motion

So I was reading in Zechariah this morning and came across Ch. 1 vs. 15a "but I am very angry with the nations that feel secure." It got me to wondering about how God must feel about our nation today. I mean, we really value our security... even created a whole new sector of government (Homeland security) just to help maintain our security. Do you think it angers God that a supposed Christian nation values security over relationship and dependance with Him? Can we really provide our own security? Looking at Zechariah it would appear that security apart from God's protection is mere illusion.

Forget the nation for a minute, how many churches value security above all else? When things get tight, do we look to our finance committee or pastor to challenge people to give more; cut back on ministry programs, or do we step outside of security and have faith that "Our God will meet our needs according to His glorious riches that are found in Jesus Christ." Isn't that REAL security anyway?

I am just wondering... is God angry with us for feeling secure (trusting in ourselves)? What about feeling insecure (not trusting in Him)?<</body>
